President of Azerbaijan: Armenia does everything to preserve status quo, also blocks talks

Baku. 20 September. REPORT.AZ/ "Armenia is doing its utmost to preserve the status quo around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, blocking negotiations”.

Report informs, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

President of Azerbaijan stated that for 24 years Armenia has ignored resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is not responsible for it.

"Usually resolutions are carried out within a few days, but here they remain unfulfilled for 24 years. This is an approach of double standards, it is unacceptable", the head of state said.

He stressed that the remaining occupied territories are the historical part of Azerbaijan and Armenia pursues a policy of ethnic cleansing in the occupied areas.

According to him, Armenia is doing its utmost to preserve the status quo, while the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have repeatedly stated that it is unacceptable.

“The absence of international reaction and pressure on the actions of the aggressor-Armenia is a manifestation of double standards. This approach creates the illusion that Armenia can continue its policy of terrorism", President of Azerbaijan said.
