Former Azerbaijani Ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismayilzada has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, the Japanese government announced while publishing the list of foreign recipients of state awards for the autumn 2026 season on November 3, Report informs.
Gursel Ismayilzada was honored with this award for his significant contribution to strengthening Azerbaijani-Japanese relations, as well as for promoting the development of friendly ties and deepening mutual understanding between the two states.
Japan's state awards intended for foreign citizens are bestowed on behalf of the Emperor to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of friendly relations with Japan and achieved outstanding results in other fields.
