Azerbaijani team to use transit route to reach Faroe Islands

Baku. 8 October. REPORT.AZ/ Th Azerbaijan national football team will leave Baku on October 9 for an away match with Faroe Islands within the framework of the third round of UEFA Nations League.

Report reports citing the press service of the national team that the airplane departs from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport at 17:25. Even though the charter flight departs from Baku, it will not fly directly to the island. The team will first go to Copenhagen, Denmark, and then towards Tórshavn by Atlantic Airways. The reason is that only specialized pilots can land in this country. Three training sessions, two of which will be held today and one tomorrow will be held at the Football Center in Mardakan. All footballers are in the camp except for Richard Almeida who wears the uniform of "Astana". The 29-year-old midfielder will join the team this evening.

Notably, the Faroe Islands - Azerbaijan match to be played at Tórsvøllur stadium starts on October 11 at 22:45 Baku time. The team led by Gurban Gurbanov will receive Malta within the framework of the fourth round on October 14.
