Inflation in Argentina in annual terms reaches 140%

Price growth in Argentina in September amounted to 12.7%; in annual terms, inflation approached 140%, Report informs referring to the Institute of Statistics and Census of the Republic.

“The overall level of the consumer price index in September 2023 increased by 12.7%, the accumulated [since the beginning of the year] increase was 103.2%. Compared to the same month last year, the increase was 138.3%,” the report says.

According to its compilers, clothing prices increased the most (by 15.7%) in August. It is followed by leisure (+15.1%) and food (+14.3%).

Argentina has been among the countries with the highest inflation for several years. In August, monthly price growth was 12.4%, the highest since 1991. At the end of 2022, inflation was 94.8%, in 2021 - 50.9%, for 2020 - 36.1%.
