Azerbaijan sees over $8B surplus in current account 

In 2021, there was observed a surplus of $8,291.6 million in the current account of Azerbaijan, while a gap of $227.6 million was recorded in 2020, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

The Bank says the surplus was formed by a surplus of $11,273.6 million in the external trade balance, a gap of $2,122.9 million in the services balance, a gap of $1,318.6 million in the primary income, and a surplus of $459.5 million in the secondary income.

“in the reporting period, the surplus in the current account made up 15.2% of the GDP. The surplus on the oil and gas sector increased by 2.8-fold to $14 billion, while the deficit on the other sectors rose by 7.7% to $5.7 billion,” the Bank said.
