STAR Refinery accounts for over 25% of crude oil imported by Turkish refineries

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 1,013,132 tons of crude oil in November 2023 (25.19% of total crude oil imports), down 19,882 tons, or 1.9%, from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In November 2023, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,965,664 tons of crude oil, 332,247 tons, or 12.6%, more than a year earlier.

STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.

The plant is capable of processing 12 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
