Inter RAO sells stake in Turkey’s first nuclear power plant

The power generating company Inter RAO has sold its stake in Akkuyu Nukleer A.S. (which is implementing a project to build the first nuclear power plant in Turkey) for 1.026 billion rubles ($13.9 million), Report informs, referring to Inter RAO.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, Inter RAO sold 333,300 shares of Akkuyu Nukleer, which is 0.8207 percent of the authorized capital. The buyer of this package was not disclosed.

At the end of October 2020, the Board of Directors of Inter RAO approved the termination of the company’s participation in Akkuyu Nukleer, in which the generating company had 0.82 percent of the shares.

In addition to Inter RAO, the company’s shareholders at that time were Rusatom Overseas (74.915 percent), Atomstroyexport (2.267 percent), Rosenergoatom (21.948 percent), Atomtekhenergo (0.025 percent), and Atomenergoremont (0.025 percent).

The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant construction project is being implemented by Akkuyu Nukleer based on an intergovernmental agreement signed between the Russian Federation and Turkey in May 2010.

After completion of construction, the Akkuyu power plant with an installed capacity of 4,800 MW will generate about 35 billion kWh per year. The commissioning of the first unit of the Akkuyu power plant is planned for 2023.
