REPORT.AZ/ "The weather is expected to change sharply in Azerbaijan starting from the night of January 16 till January 18 daytime," Head of the Department of Work with Social Agencies, Environmental Awareness and Science, Department of Ecological Education and Public Relations of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva told Report.
According to her, the sharp change in weather will be caused by the approaching Mediterranean cyclone in the territory of the country:
"Starting from January 17, this process will show itself in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Nagorno-Karabakh, Gazakh and Ganja regions. It is assumed that the speed of north-western wind will make 28-33 m / s, and 35-38 m / s.
Taghiyeva added that the temperature will drop sharply by 10 degrees compared to last day:
"Rain is predicted in the regions of the republic with sleet and snow. It will be intensive in some places. On the night of January 17 to 18, roads are likely to be frozen. At the same time, on January 17, rainfall in Baku and Absheron peninsula will turn to sleet and snow, the temperature will be 0-2 degrees."
She added that the height of the wave will rise up to 6-8 meters.
