Türkiye to impose 130% duties on wheat, corn and barley imports

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a decree according to which wheat, corn and barley imported into the country will be subject to a duty of 130%. Zero duty on these goods will cease to be applied on May 1, Report informs via Resmi Gazete newspaper.

Exceptions are made for Singapore: part of the products from this country can be imported into Türkiye with a duty of 16.2%. Zero duties will continue to apply for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Previously, duties on imports of grain and other agricultural products were 45% for wheat, 35% for barley and 25% for corn. However, with the onset of the pandemic in October 2020, Türkiye first reduced duties, and then stopped collecting them altogether.
