"Agriculture is a strategically important sector that provides basic human needs. The growing demand for food is raising pressure on water and land resources. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, approximately 1.7 billion hectares of land worldwide have been degraded by human activities. More than 60% of this land is cropland and pasture used for agriculture," Babayev said.
