Kazakhstan will impose a ban on the export of flour and grain

Kazakhstan will impose restrictions on the export of grain and flour within two weeks, which will last until June 15, Report informs citing the Kazakhstani media that Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev said on the sidelines of the Majilis.

At the same time, exporters of flour and grain will be allowed to export raw materials, subject to the provision of the domestic market. Thus, during this period Kazakhstan can sell 1 million tons of grain and 300,000 tons of flour. But producers are obliged to supply 10% of the exported volume to the domestic market, and at reduced prices - that is, 100,000 tons of grain and 30,000 tons of flour.

The minister stressed that this does not restrict the rights of exporters of flour and grain, since, as the dynamics of exports over the past five years show, on average, about 100,000-120,000 tons of flour were exported per month. This, according to the agriculture minister, means that the quotas for 300,000 tons of flour are sufficient to ensure that exporters do not suffer.

Yerbol Karashukeyev informed that the average monthly grain export from Kazakhstan is 500,000 tons. According to him, the decision to impose restrictions on exports was made at a meeting of the interdepartmental commission.

"Now the procedure for agreeing the rules themselves is underway, in the near future, I think, they will be introduced within two weeks. We proposed to introduce them by June 15, a decision was made at the interdepartmental commission - by June 15," Yerbol Karashukeyev said.
