Since the beginning of the year, Azerbaijan has produced 3,500 tons of honey, the lowest since 1996, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association Badraddin Hasratov told Report.
According to him, honey production in the country has decreased twofold since the beginning of the year compared to last year's figures.
Hasratov said that this was mainly due to the large number of rainy days this year: "There were no cases of mass diseases among bees. While last year there were 620,000 bee families in the country, this year there have been 30,000 more. Now we are striving to save the bees for next year."
According to the chairman, nearly 125,000 bee families were transported to pastures in the territories liberated from occupation.
