Farhad Garashov: Farmers from liberated Aghdam appealed regarding sale of pomegranates

Global climate changes and variable rainy weather conditions this year have negatively impacted the yield and quality of fruits in Azerbaijan's districts, Farhad Garashov, the chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association, told Report.

He noted that serious pomegranate crop losses have occurred in most districts of Azerbaijan.

"The volume and quality of pomegranates largely depend on climatic conditions, used agrotechnical methods, and agrotechnology. Considering the weather conditions, compared to 2023, this year's harvest may be low, that is, not suitable for sale," he said.

Garashov emphasized that the pomegranate regions of Azerbaijan are traditionally considered to be Aran, Mil-Mugan, the lower districts of Upper Shirvan, and the Karabakh region.

"Some farmers from the liberated Aghdam district have already contacted us about selling pomegranates, and the Association has ensured coordination between buyers and sellers," he said.
