Azerbaijan starts buying lentils from 3 more countries

During the first 11 months of 2021, Azerbaijan imported over 4,422 tons of lentils for $3.883 million, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Compared to the same period of 2020, these figures are, respectively, 41.06% and 24.29% lower than a year earlier.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 1,842.4 tons of lentils for $1.715 million from Kazakhstan, 1,328.5 tons for $1.085 million from Kyrgyzstan, 850.35 tons for $675,790 from Russia, and 347.49 tons for $342,520 from Canada. and 51.94 tons for $61,590 from Turkey.
Compared to January-November 2020, supplies from Kazakhstan decreased by 19.05% and increased by 22.23%, respectively. The imports also decreased by 28.48% and 21.33% from Kyrgyzstan, by 35.71% and 11.74% from Russia, by 74.36% and 68.43% from Canada, and by 92.46% and 87.44% from Turkey.
Azerbaijan purchased lentils from a total of 13 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Georgia, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. After a twenty-month break, supplies from Malaysia have been resumed. In the last ten years (note: official foreign trade statistics on free access are available until 2011), Azerbaijan has not received lentil batches from Belarus, Georgia and Venezuela.
