Azerbaijan’s wheat imports value from main supply market grows 19%

In January-August this year, 539,092 tons of wheat worth $193.324 million were imported to Azerbaijan from abroad.
According to Report’s calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, this is 59% more in value and 12.3% in quantitative terms compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, 380,681 tons (-17.7%) of products were imported from Russia for $139.417 million (+19%), from Kazakhstan – 158,411 tons (+9.2 times) for $53.91 million (+13 times).
In August, Azerbaijan bought wheat mainly from Russia. The volume of supplies from this country in August increased by 37% compared to the previous seven months.
Last year, 95.3% of 1.148 million tons of wheat imported by Azerbaijan (from six countries) accounted for Russia.
