Azerbaijan's agriculture minister: Climate сhange presents both challenges and opportunities

Climate change poses a threat to Azerbaijan's agricultural sector, but it also presents an opportunity to create more sustainable, efficient, and modern farming systems for future generations, according to Majnun Mammadov, the country's Minister of Agriculture.

According to Report, speaking at the Baku Climate Action Week, Mammadov emphasized that the agricultural sector is one of the areas directly affected by climate change. "Azerbaijan is implementing extensive reforms to combat climate change," he said. "Effective water resource management and rational use of land resources are at the heart of these reforms."

The minister highlighted that the main goal is to support farmers with modern technologies and ensure sustainable, proper management of water resources. "Innovative approaches and modern technologies play a key role in the fight against climate change," Mammadov noted. "In this context, Azerbaijan is modernizing irrigation systems, creating opportunities for more efficient water use by farmers, and investing in renewable energy sources.
