Azerbaijan resumes cattle imports from three countries

Azerbaijan imported 3,748 units of cattle for $12.9 million in January-August 2023.
According to Report’s calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, compared to the same period last year, imports increased 41% in terms of value, and 21% in quantitative terms.
During the reporting period, the country imported 2,000 units of cattle (no imports were made last year) for $6.7 million from Uruguay, 371 units (-29%) for $1.18 million (-20%) from Germany, 325 units (-57%) for $1.13 million (-53%) from Estonia, 311 units (no imports were made last year) for $1.1 million from Denmark, 259 units (-69%) for $938,730 (-65%) from Austria.
Azerbaijan imported cattle from Belgium (2 units worth $2,800), Italy (144 units worth $487,100), and Romania(97 units worth $418,000) for the first time in 12 years (official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011).
Some 40.6% of the 7,881 tons of cattle brought to Azerbaijan from 10 countries last year were purchased from Uruguay, 15% from Estonia, 13.7% from Austria, and 11.5% from Türkiye.
