Azerbaijan greatly increases purchases of tomatoes from Türkiye

In January-October last year, Azerbaijan increased purchases of tomatoes from Türkiye by 419 times, Report informs referring to the State Statistics Committee.
Over 10 months, Azerbaijan imported 117.36 tons of tomatoes from Türkiye worth $66,440. Compared to the corresponding period in 2022, the value of imports has increased 230 times.
A report from the Southeast Anatolian Exporters’ Association said that in 2023, tomato exports increased by 42.8% compared to 2022 to $538.724 million.
During this period, 588,418 tons of tomatoes were exported to 52 countries, including Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, the UK, Seychelles, Russia, Denmark, Spain, Azerbaijan, Italy, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Estonia and France.
Romania ranked first among the countries to which Türkiye exported the most tomatoes last year. During the year, tomatoes worth $91.983 million were sold to Romania. Next in the ranking are Ukraine, Poland, Germany and Russia.
