Azerbaijan and World Intellectual Property Organization mull cooperation

Representatives of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture met with the leaders of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, to strengthen the potential of the country's agricultural sector and deepen international cooperation.

Report informs, citing the ministry, that the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Ilhama Gadimova, Deputy Chairman of the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency under the ministry Leyla Jabbarli, and Advisor to Azerbaijan's Permanent Mission to the UN Yusif Madatov, as well as Habip Asan, Director of the Division for Transition and Developed Countries at WIPO, and Ilya Gribkov, Head of the Section for Caucasian, Central Asian and Eastern European Countries at the department.

Asan informed the Azerbaijani delegation about WIPO's activities and projects in the country. He emphasized the importance of existing cooperation and noted that COP29 to be held in Baku is an important event in the global fight against climate change. Habip Asan said that WIPO will participate in COP29 with a large delegation and stated that this event will open new opportunities for mutual cooperation.

Gadimova highlighted that the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan is developing rapidly, and the country's production and export capacity is increasing. She invited WIPO representatives to the official presentation ceremony of the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for Farmers, noting that this presentation, to be held on November 19 - Food, Agriculture and Water Day within the framework of COP29, aims to support agricultural innovations in line with climate resilience.

The meeting discussed determining future cooperation directions and coordinating joint activities within the COP29 framework.
