Azerbaijan and Brazil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The agreement was inked by Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, and his Brazilian counterpart Carlos Favaro.

The MoU outlines the future directions of cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two nations. According to the document, both parties have agreed to expand collaboration in areas such as the exchange of scientific and technological innovations in agriculture, organization of training and seminars, agricultural research, development of agricultural infrastructure, organization of trade missions, and promotion of private sector involvement in business events.

During his participation in the G20 Agriculture Ministers' meeting held in Cuiaba, Brazil, Minister Majnun Mammadov also held a bilateral meeting with Minister Carlos Favaro. The discussions focused on establishing a legal framework for agricultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil, increasing trade turnover of agricultural products, transferring state-of-the-art technologies in the agricultural sector, strengthening cooperation in animal husbandry, and implementing experience exchange programs in agricultural research.

Minister Majnun Mammadov also met with heads of delegations from participating countries and representatives of international organizations. The importance of establishing a joint working group on agriculture between the two countries was emphasized, with confidence expressed that the group's activities will contribute to enhancing cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The meetings highlighted the vast potential for expanding mutual relations in agriculture. Both sides expressed their keen interest in strengthening agricultural cooperation and underscored the importance of holding such meetings in this format.
