Before the start of the new grain season, stocks of wheat have been formed in Azerbaijan, said Firdovsi Fikretzade, director of the Center for Agrarian Research under the Ministry of Agriculture, Report informs.
He noted that Azerbaijan has stocks of wheat, which are twice the demand: “There are other food stocks as well.”
Fikretzade noted that Azerbaijan imports a total of 1.3 million tons of wheat: “This is a 40 percent dependence on imports in terms of the balance of total wheat reserves. However, due to the demand of the flour milling industry, the level of dependence on imports is higher. Currently, 75% of the wheat processed by our milling industry is provided by imports, which is an average of 1.3 million tons.”
