Tourist flow to Azerbaijan up by over 30%

In 2023, 2,085,800 foreigners and stateless persons from 187 countries traveled to Azerbaijan, 29.8% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Some 30% of tourists came from Russia, 18.1% from Türkiye, 7.9% from Iran, 5.6% from India, 5% from Georgia, 3.9% from Saudi Arabia, 2.8% from Kazakhstan, 2.6% from Pakistan, 1.9% from Uzbekistan, 2.2% from the United Arab Emirates, 1.5% from Ukraine, 1.4% from each of Kuwait and Israel, 1.3% from Belarus, 1.2% from Turkmenistan, 1.1% from China, 1% from Great Britain, and 11.1% from other countries. 70.3% of them were men, and 29.7% were women.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists from China increased by 6.5 times, from South Korea 3.3 times, from Turkmenistan 2.3 times, from Kazakhstan 1.9 times, from Poland 1.8 times, from Egypt 1.9 times, from Kyrgyzstan 1.8 times, from Tajikistan 1.8 times, from Bahrain 1.7 times, from the Philippines 1.7 times, from Italy 1.6 times, from Spain 1.6 times, from Moldova 48.2%, from Uzbekistan 1.5 times, from Belarus 48.8%, from Russia 39.9%, from Canada 40%, from the USA 37.9%, from Kuwait 31.3%, from Georgia 27.1%, from France 29.8%, from the Netherlands 26%, from Israel by 21.6%, from Great Britain 23.4%, from Türkiye 21.2%, from Germany 18.3%, from Ukraine 12.7%, from the United Arab Emirates 11.4%, from Pakistan by 6.7%, and from Jordan by 6%.

Compared to last year, the number of tourists from the CIS countries increased by 44.6% to 824,100 people, from the European Union member states increased by 41.6% to 104,800 people, and from the Gulf countries decreased by 2.1% to 350,200 people.

Some 71.4% of foreigners and stateless persons who traveled to Azerbaijan used air, 27.3% by rail and car, and 1.3% by sea.
