Türkiye’s Central Election Commission has summed up the final results of the elections to local authorities, which took place in the republic on March 31, the head of the department, Ahmet Yener, told journalists, Report informs referring to TASS.

He noted that 57.7 million Turkish citizens took part in the elections, the turnout was 78.1%.

“The voting took place in a calm atmosphere; no serious violations were noted that would have affected its outcome,” Yener added.

He noted that in some places, repeat elections to local authorities will be held on June 2 due to identified violations.

In municipal elections in Türkiye, mayors of 30 large cities, heads of municipalities and local governments were elected.
