Tokayev: Kazakhstan needs new state emblem

The state emblem of Kazakhstan is too difficult to perceive; it contains eclecticism and signs of the Soviet era, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, Report informs referring to Kazakh media.

“With regard to the state emblem, I think it is advisable to take into account the reasonable arguments of professionals and concerned citizens, including young people, that the coat of arms of Kazakhstan is too difficult to perceive, it contains eclecticism and signs of the Soviet era,” he noted.

He said that if there is general agreement, a special commission can be created that will substantively consider all aspects, hold public discussions, and then announce an open competition for the best sketch of the new coat of arms.

In addition, Tokayev reminded that last year he spoke about the need to systematize and bring the symbols of cities and regions of the country to a single standard.
