Russia will overtake Japan in GDP growth by 2030, Russian official says

Current macro forecast parameters indicate Russia's ability to overtake Japan in GDP growth by 2030, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov said at the "Russia" exhibition held within the days of national priorities "Efficient and Competitive Economy", Report informs via TASS.

“The President asked us to expand the supply-side economy, to reach fourth place in the world by 2030, overtaking Japan. Our international friends, primarily from the IMF, who carry out international comparisons - they, of course, heard this order from the president to the future government and immediately reduced Russian GDP by $200 billion. With the forecast parameters that we now see, we should still overtake Japan in 2030,” Belousov said.
