Polling stations for Russian presidential elections won’t open in Georgia

Russian citizens won’t be able to vote in Georgia on March 17 in the Russian presidential elections due to the lack of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reads the statement of the Russian Federation Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi, Report informs referring to Interfax.

The polling stations closest to Georgia will be opened in Armenia at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan and the Consulate in Gyumri, as well as in Türkiye.

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia were interrupted in September 2008 by decision of the Georgian government.

The presidential elections in Russia, according to the decision of the Central Election Commission, will be held from March 15 to March 17, 2024.
