As many as 63 people have been detained and six law enforcement officers have been injured in Georgia at a rally against the bill “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” in the center of Tbilisi on the night of May 1, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Aleksandr Darakhvelidze said at a briefing on May 1, Report informs referring to Georgian media.

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have repeatedly called on protesters not to go beyond the law. Periodically, clashes occurred between special forces and protesters. The protesters threw stones and plastic bottles at the security forces, and the security forces used pepper spray, tear gas and a water cannon.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the attack on employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the riots, dozens of people were injured, most of whom received emergency medical care on the spot. Among the victims is the chairman of the largest opposition party, the United National Movement, Levan Khabeishvili.
