MFA: Withdrawal of Russian border guards was discussed at Armenia’s request

The withdrawal of Russian border guards from a number of Armenian regions bordering Azerbaijan was discussed at the request of the Armenian side, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing, the Russian bureau of Report informs.

“We see that it was claimed that the withdrawal of border guards is being carried out within the agreement between Baku and Yerevan on the non-deployment of representatives of third countries on the joint border. All this is speculation. What is the reality? The reality is that during the negotiations between the leaders of Russia and Armenia, at the request of the Armenian side, the parties discussed the withdrawal of Russian border guards from a number of regions of Armenia bordering Azerbaijan in connection with the implementation of a number of previously assigned tasks,” Zakharova noted.
