Media: Opposition needs 54 votes to launch impeachment procedure against Pashinyan

To launch the impeachment procedure against Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and nominate opposition candidate for this post, the opposition needs at least 54 votes.

Report informs via Armenian media that at the moment, the opposition parliamentary factions "Hayastan" and "I have the honor" are represented by 35 deputies in the country's National Assembly. The opposition needs to additionally enlist the support of 19 more deputies.

Protests are taking place on the territory of Armenia in connection with the beginning of the border delimitation with Azerbaijan. The protesters are demanding Pashinyan's resignation.

Armenian media report that the secretary of the parliamentary faction "I have the honor" Tigran Abrahamyan said the opposition parliamentary forces have expressed their readiness to work on the agenda related to the start of the process of a vote of no confidence in the prime minister.

“There are certain procedural issues related to a specific process, some of which are not determined by us,” he said, noting that in order to complete the entire process, it will be necessary to ensure the presence of a number of deputies from the ruling Civil Accord faction.
