Mexico intends to cooperate with NASA in firefighting, water supply, communications

Mexico plans to cooperate with the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in firefighting, water supply and communications, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said following a meeting with NASA Director Bill Nelson in Mexico City, Report informs.

“There will be cooperation in the field of fire fighting, water supply and the use of nearby satellites for communications throughout Mexico,” the president wrote on X.

NASA Deputy Administrator Pamela Melroy also took part in the meeting.

“We are also making efforts to ensure that the young Mexican astronaut Katya Echazarreta can fly into space again,” López Obrador added.

In June 2022, a native of Guadalajara and an engineer by profession, Echazarreta became the first Mexican-born woman and the youngest American woman to travel in space. She made a suborbital flight on the New Shepard ship of the American company Blue Origin along with five other tourists on board.
