Germany deports 245 Azerbaijanis to Georgia

Last year, 9,399 Georgian citizens asked for asylum in Germany, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) said in response to the request of Report's European bureau.

According to the information, only 31 applicants were granted refugee status. 7,964 were not eligible for refugee status.

The Federal Office rejected the asylum request of those persons and sent them a notice to leave the country voluntarily.

245 of those deported from Germany to Georgia last year are Azerbaijanis.

The number of Georgian Azerbaijanis benefiting from the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) also increased in 2023.

With the support of IOM, payments were made in cash and non-cash to those who returned to Georgia to establish their entrepreneurial activities in the fields of small farming, the service sector, small trade, and manufacturing.
