Robert Simoncic: Azerbaijan, Slovakia to continue increasing mutual trade

Azerbaijan and Slovakia will continue to work on new agreements, which will further increase bilateral trade, Robert Simoncic, head of the Slovak investment and trade development agency (SARIO), said at the Azerbaijan-Slovakia business forum in Baku, Report informs.

He emphasized that over the past few years the countries have held 4-5 joint events aimed at developing cooperation.

“Slovakia is actively developing the fields of energy, ICT, electronics production, the automotive industry, the space industry and satellite technologies, and has extensive experience that it can share. All this, taking into account the documents signed today at the forum, can create the foundation for future cooperation,” he said.

Simoncic added that Slovakia currently exports goods to Azerbaijan worth 8 million euros per year and imports goods worth 1 million euros. “However, new agreements will be signed and this will increase the volume of trade between our countries,” he noted.
