FIFA orders to replay 2018 World Cup qualifier

Baku. 7 September. REPORT.AZ/ South Africa-Senegal match of the 2018 World Cup qualification will be replayed due to the “referee ban”.

Report informs citing FIFA’s official website.

The match took place in South Africa’s Polokwane city in November 2016 and ended with the victory of the hosts. Chief referee Jospeh Lamptey was disqualified for life in March of this year for the match manipulation. The teams will once again face each other in November of this year. The exact date will be announced at a special FIFA meeting on September 14.

Senegal and South Africa are in group D with Burkina Faso and Cabo Verde.

After 4 rounds, Senegal ranks 3rd and South Africa 4th. The holders of the first two places will obtain the right to participate in the World Cup.

Notably, South African footballer of Qarabag F.C. Dini Ndlovu did not play in the match, the results of which have been eliminated.
