It is very important to conduct a comparative analysis of relevant indicators, mainly development indices, in the tourism sector in Azerbaijan based on international indices and to implement initiatives in this field, Vusal Shikhaliyev, head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings of Azerbaijan, told reporters on the sidelines of the event themed the implementation status of the 2023 Action Plan and upcoming priorities of the ‘Tourism Development’ Working Group.
According to him, the main mandate and field of activity of the ‘Tourism Development’ Working Group is focused on the travel and tourism development index published annually by the World Economic Forum.
“The Tourism Development Working Group has about 40 members, most of whom are representatives of the private sector and other stakeholders. One of the positive points is that the participation of the private sector as an active and equal member in the working group is aimed at connecting the issues raised in the tourism sector from the same platform and increasing purposeful inclusion with a single synergy in this field," Shikhaliyev added.
