UAE tightening entry rules for tourists

The authorities of the third biggest emirate in the UAE are changing the rules of entry for tourists, Report informs referring to the Association of Tour Operators in Russia (ATOR).

From April 18, 2021, those arriving in Sharjah must have a paper certificate of a negative PCR test for COVID-19, made no earlier than 72 hours before arrival. The result is accepted in Arabic or English if made in an accredited laboratory.

Previously, the validity of the PCR test was no more than 96 hours before arrival in Sharjah.

Prior to Sharjah, Dubai tightened anti-COVID measures. Back in January, the authorities there shortened the test validity period from 96 to 72 hours.

In addition to the mandatory test, tourists will have to pass another test already in Sharjah, remaining in self-isolation until the results are obtained.

ATOR reminds that citizens of the UAE and children under 12 years old are exempted from compulsory PCR testing in Sharjah.
