Azerbaijan received 1,162,700 tourists from 176 countries in January-September 2022, up 2.2-fold from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Among the tourists, 26.6% came from Russia, 19.6% from Turkiye, 11% from Iran, 7.4% from Saudi Arabia, 4.8% from Georgia, 3.2% from Pakistan, 3.1% from India, 2.3% from UAE, 1.9% from Kazakhstan, 1.8% from Ukraine, 1.7% from Israel, 1.6% from Kuwait, 1.5% from Uzbekistan, 1.4% from Oman, 1.1% from Great Britain and 11% from other countries. Men constituted 74.4%, while women made up 25.6% of the foreigners.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from Kuwait increased by 167.9 times, from Oman by 130.8 times, Saudi Arabia by 99 times, Pakistan by 25.4 times, India by 16 times, Kazakhstan by 5.8 times, Israel by 5.5 times, the UAE by 5.2 times, Bahrain by 4.8 times, the United States by 3.4 times, Germany by 2.9 times, France by 2.7 times, Great Britain by two times, Turkiye by 1.7 times, Ukraine by 1.7 times, Russia by 1.7 times, Iran by 1.6 times, and Georgia by 25.5%.
In contrast to a year earlier, the number of tourists from the Gulf countries grew by 3.1-fold to 283,600 people, from EU member states by 2.4 times to 55,800 people, and from CIS countries by 1.9 times to 395,300 people.
