Sri Lanka cancels two-week quarantine for vaccinated travelers

Sri Lankan authorities have simplified terms of entry to the country for incoming vaccinated travelers, Report informs, citing Colombo Page.

"Sri Lankan Health Ministry has updated the rules of entry to the country for incoming travelers. From now on, the vaccinated citizens of foreign countries will not be required to pass a two-week quarantine upon arrival, but they will have to live for two weeks in a hotel with the Safe&Secure security certificate. Mandatory quarantine remains in force for other tourists," Colombo Page says.

On the first day of their stay in the country, tourists will have to test for coronavirus and test again on the seventh day. Children under the age of two are an exception. The cost of the PCR test will make $40, and it is included in the accommodation fee. If the tests are negative, tourists will be able to change the hotel, with the hotel administration to issue a Discharge Document to the traveler.

Vaccinated travelers will be able to join excursions and leave the hotel, while those unvaccinated must only stay in the hotel's territory.

Tourists won't be able to get a tourist visa upon arrival. According to the new rule, an online ETA entry permit worth $35 must be obtained in advance. A reservation in a hotel with a safety certificate and a medical insurance policy with coverage for coronavirus treatment ($12, People's Insurance PLC insurer) is also required.

Upon arrival at the Sri Lanka airport, all tourists must present a negative PCR test received 72 hours before boarding, a completed Health Declaration Form, and an original vaccination certificate along with a copy of the original certificate with a certified English translation.
