Sri Lanka suspends the entry of visitors for 10 days to curb the pandemic, Report informs with reference to Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

All international airports in Sri Lanka will not allow disembarkation of passengers in Sri Lanka from 23:59 on May 21, 2021 (GMT +5:30) until 23:59 on May 31, 2021 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

At the same time, the authorities will allow the entry of transit passengers if their flight departs from the airports of the island state no later than 12 hours after arrival, the departure of international flights, as well as the arrival of cargo and humanitarian flights.

Sri Lanka is experiencing the third wave of the pandemic; more than 50,000 people got infected with a new strain in May alone. Over the past day, the island nation saw a record increase in cases - 3,591 people got infected. The country’s total COVID tally has reached 144,425.
