Russian tourism agency proposes to postpone tours for tourists

Russia’s Federal Agency for Tourism suggests tour operators to postpone travel dates of foreign tourists in Russia with their consent until May 1, 2020, due to the restrictions enforced since March 18 on the entry of foreign citizens amidst coronavirus outbreak, Report informs referring to the agency’s website.

By order of the Russian Federal Government dated March 16, to ensure state security, protect public health and hinder the spread of the new coronavirus, the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons, including those arriving from the territory of the Republic of Belarus, as well as Belarusian citizens, will be temporarily restricted from March 18 till May 1, 2020. The issuance of tourist visas, as well as e-visas, has also been temporarily suspended.

It is to be reminded that the new coronavirus emerged at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, the most populous city and the capital of China’s Hubei. The virus, named COVID-19, spread across the globe, turning into a pandemic.

As measures of fighting the further spread of COVID-19, many countries have closed borders, cut flights, and either canceled or postponed public events.

The total number of people infected with COVID-19 recently exceeded 183,000.
