Minister: Azerbaijan supported dozens of agro-ecotourism facilities

As part of the agro-ecotourism project “From Village to City”, implemented by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture for several years, support was provided in the districts in the creation of dozens of agro-ecotourism facilities, Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov said at the seminar “Development of rural places and creation of a national system of agro ecotourism in Azerbaijan,” Report informs.

“In Gakh, Shaki, Ismayilli, Balakan, Lankaran and other districts, there are agro-ecotourism facilities that meet modern requirements. Interest in rural tourism in our country is very high. So many citizens make daily trips, and show great interest in organic agricultural products. At the same time, with the mitigation of quarantine restrictions, the number of tourists coming to the country has increased, and they visit not only cities, but also districts with a rich culture, beautiful nature and modern infrastructure,” he said.

He added that in order to develop agro-ecotourism in the country, the ministry cooperates with local and international organizations, including the EU and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO): “The support provided by the EU in this direction will contribute to our common work. Within the framework of the project, implemented by FAO and funded by the EU, important work is also being done to develop agro-ecotourism in the north-western regions of the republic.”
