Karabakh's tourism potential presented at Uzakrota Online Summit 2020

On December 1, speaking at the Uzakrota Online 2020 Travel Summit, one of Turkey's largest tourism events, Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, informed about Karabakh, its tourism opportunities and prospects for tourism development in this region, Report says, citing the Board.

He said that the presentation of the Karabakh region as a new tourist destination in the plans would take place after the process of ensuring security and creating infrastructure in the territory.

Florian Sengstschmid, who spoke on the role of the Internet in destination marketing, also told participants about the advantages of the Internet and digital tools in the marketing of destinations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the application of innovative strategies in the tourism industry, and the importance of safe and sustainable goals.

Stressing the importance of cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in tourism, Sengstschmid said that Turkish tourists' interest in Azerbaijan is growing.

The CEO also informed about the projects implemented in Azerbaijan during the pandemic, including the online training platform "Azerbaijan 101", the Tourism Training and Certification Center, the domestic tourism campaign "Adventure is near."

Sevda Aliyeva, Director of the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau, commented on "The impact of developing business activities on communities through local innovations" at a conference dedicated to business tourism within the exhibition framework.

She spoke about the main factors necessary for developing the business events industry, including raising the level of education, creating opportunities for cooperation and networking for industry, and the benefits of government support for industrial development.

Sevda Aliyeva noted that business events, conferences, and exhibitions are financially, academically, and economically beneficial. She spoke about the Business Events Alliance and the Ambassadors Program established by the Azerbaijan Congress Bureau, hybrid events during the pandemic, and future international events in Azerbaijan.

Uzakrota Travel Summit is an international exhibition that brings together travel agencies, airlines, hotels, tourism startups, and the tourism industry. More than 100,000 tourism professionals and about 300 speakers from the CIS, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East attended this year's online show.
