Direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan will probably be launched next summer, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau Florian Sengstschmid said.

He noted that AZAL is currently in talks with the Pakistan Internatinal airlines.

"As soon as the direct flights are launched, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau intends to sign a cooperation agreement with the tourism authorities of Pakistan to develop cooperation," he said.

Flights are expected to start between Karachi, Lahor and Baku.

"We are glad to strengthen our ties with Pakistan and expand our tourism offer in this sphere, since we seek to offer unique, authentic and unforgettable experience to Pakistani tourists," Sengstschmid said.

41,268 Pakistani travelers visited Azerbaijan in 2018. In January-August of this year Azerbaijan welcomed 28,576 Pakistani citizens, a growth of 12.9% over the same period of the last year.
