Azerbaijan adopts standard on Halal Tourism

The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, has adopted the national standard AZS OIC/SMIIC 9:2026 "Halal Tourism Services. General Requirements," Report informs, citing AZSTAND.
The new standard covers accommodation facilities, tour packages, tourist guides, and other tourism services related to halal tourism. It sets out the main principles and requirements for managing products and services offered at halal tourism facilities for travelers.
The purpose of implementing the halal tourism standard is to strengthen the ability of enterprises and organizations in the tourism sector to effectively manage halal services, ensure that tourism products and services comply with Islamic rules, meet customer demands, and thereby increase customer satisfaction.
The mentioned standard was submitted by the Technical Committee on "Tourism and Related Services" (AZSTAND/TK 06), approved by AZSTAND, and included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
