Abulfas Garayev: We would like tourists in Azerbaijan to reach 3.5 mln

Baku. 13 February. REPORT.AZ/ “The number of tourists in the world increased by 7 percent in 2017. Azerbaijan has achieved greater progress. Last year there was a 20 percent increase".

Report informs, Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev said at today's conference titled "Advantages of holding Olympic sports competitions to the country" at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku. 

The minister said that the target number of tourists is 3.5 million: According to the latest figures, the number of tourists coming to our country is about 2 million 600 thousand people. We would like to increase this number to 3.5 million. About 60,000 people work in tourism industry in Azerbaijan. Today, Azerbaijan is associated with Eurovision or Formula 1. This is very important. We also organize music and shopping festivals to attract tourists to Azerbaijan. We all benefit from that. The biggest success is to increase country's reputation. Azerbaijan will host Formula 1 Grand Prix for the third time. I thank everyone for this.
