The active participation of women in society and their  financial independence is one of the important issues.

According to Report, President of the Council of States of the Swiss Confederation Jean-René Fournier made the due statement during a visit to the Women's Resource Center.

He noted that "education of women, their awareness and training, as well as the more active participation in the economic sphere make a huge contribution to the development of the whole society."

The Women's Resource Center in the village of Shuvalan, Baku was opened as part of the joint project "Enhancing the Role of Women in Economic Life in the South Caucasus" of the Azerbaijani government, UN Development Program (UNDP) with financial support from the Swiss government.

Thus, head of the UNDP office in Azerbaijan, Alessandro Fracassetti declared the importance of partners' participation in such efforts to fight unemployment among women.

“We see on this example how much the life of these women has transformed. How they launched their own business, expanded the circle of acquaintances and encouraged others to follow their example. I believe that this kind of activity is what we call successful development,” he said.

Implementation of the program "Enhancing the Role of Women in Economic Life in the South Caucasus" is designed for 2018-2021. The project provides assistance to women from low-income families who do not have the necessary education for decent employment, to start or grow their business. The project budget is $637,000, of which $192,000 has been executed so far.
