Number of employed population in Azerbaijan announced

Baku. 18 December. REPORT.AZ/ As of December 1, 2018, the number of economically active population was 5,137,600 people, of which 4,884,100 were employed, Report informs.

According to State Statistical Committee, as of November 1, 2018, the number of hired workers was 1,552,800, including 884,700 people worked in state sector, 668,100 people in non-state sector. 33,900 people worked in oil sector, 1,518,900 in non-oil sector.

Among the hired workers, 23.9% are engaged in education, including 7.2% in construction, 7% in processing, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishery, 2.5% in water supply, waste treatment and processing, 2.2% in mining, 1.7% in production, distribution and supply of energy, gas and steam.

Among the workers in service area, 21.4% are in education, 18.6% in trade: maintenance of transport vehicles, 13.3% in industry, 8.5% in medical and social services, 7.0% in public administration and defense, social security, 4.6% in transport and storehouse, 3.4% in vocational, scientific and technical sector, 1.6% in information and communication, 1.6% in finance and insurance, 1.5% in tourist accommodation and public catering, 1.5% in operation on real estate and 1.0% in other economic spheres.
