Ministry: Social support measures reached over 4.8 mln citizens

During the pandemic, there were number of large-scale measures to support the employment and social welfare in Azerbaijan.

Report says, citing the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, these measures have saved jobs and wages of about 1.64 million employees in the public and private sectors.

2 million citizens, mainly from vulnerable groups, have been provided with sustainability payments by types of social security (pensions, pensions, benefits).

The government has launched a program offering one-time payment to nearly 600 thousand unemployed people, employ about 90 thousand public workers, and create small farms for 12 thousand families within the framework of the self-employment program.

Moreover, the project envisages giving 340 thousand members of 82 thousand families with targeted state social assistance, while 20 thousand people with unemployment insurance, and about 100 thousand families with food aid.
