According to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Azerbaijan ranks 126th among 229 countries in terms of birth rate.

Report informs citing the CIA that there are 145 births per 10,000 people in the country.

Niger (475 births per 10,000 people), Angola (427), and Uganda (423) lead the ranking. Monaco ends the list with only 64 births per 10,000 people.

Among the countries of the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan has the highest indicator. In Armenia and Georgia, this figure was 119 and 116, respectively.

Among the CIS countries, the leaders are Tajikistan (218 births per 10,000 people), Kyrgyzstan (206), Turkmenistan (183), Kazakhstan (164), Uzbekistan (161).

In Russia, for every 10,000 people, there are on average 100 births. In Belarus, this figure is 95.

According to Azerbaijan's State Statistical Committee (SSC), the country's population increased by 56,292 people, or 0.6% in the first 11 months of 2020, and reached 10,123,400 on December 1.

According to the SSC, 52.8% of Azerbaijan's population lives in cities, while 47.2% reside in rural areas. At the same time, 49.9% of the population are men, and 50.1% are women.

On average, there are 1,002 women for every 1,000 men in Azerbaijan.

From January through November 2020, 116,454 babies were born in the republic, which is 9.9% less than a year earlier. The birth rate for every 1,000 people for the specified period was 12.7. Boys accounted for 53.3% of children born, while girls made up 46.7%.

During the reported period, 3,106 twins, 117 triples, and four quadruplets were born in Azerbaijan.

Some 61,147 people have died in the first 11 months of 2020, The death rate for every 10,000 people was 67.
