Ashot Parsyan, honorary consul of Spain and Guatemala in Armenia, said at the opening ceremony of Spain's honorary consulate in Yerevan that the mission of the consulate was not only to support Spanish citizens but also to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Report informs via Armenian media that Parsyan also expressed the view that visa liberalisation with Spain would make a significant contribution to Armenia's economic development and allow freer movement of people, helping to increase bilateral visits.
He said Spaniards faced no difficulties in visiting Armenia and added that visa liberalisation was also important for Armenian citizens, especially businesspeople, as it would allow them to conduct business more freely in European countries.
Ricardo Martinez Vazquez, Spain's ambassador to Armenia, said direct flights between Yerevan and Alicante will be launched this summer and expressed confidence that this will help strengthen long-term relations between Armenia and Spain.
