Baku. 20 November. REPORT.AZ / UN World Health Organization published a report on child mortality rate in European countries.

Report informs citing UN website that the report is timed to the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.

According to WHO, 190 million children and adolescents under the age of 18 live in the European region. 44 million of them were exposed to physical violence, 18 million suffered sexual violence and 55 million experienced psychological trauma. At the same time, 90% of all such remain unnoticed.

Russia leads the European region for the number of child and adolescent suicides. It is followed by Latvia, Belgium, Finland, Moldova, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The most prosperous situation in this regard is in the South Caucasus region, in other words, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.

WHO recommends to amend laws, involve medical workers in the identification of such cases, acquaint parents with the "peaceful" methods of education and teach children how to defend themselves.
